I'M PROUD TO BE A...

Born in Philadelphia, PA, I’m a strategic thinker and community leader who began serving South Windsor in 2017, as a volunteer Travel Boys U9 Soccer Coach with the South Windsor Soccer Club (or SWSC) for 5 years. After having an inclusive impact with those young men and their families, I transitioned to having a greater impact by running for our Town Council and was blessed to be elected by all of you as the first Black Town Councilor in our town’s history.  

My passion for inclusive and effective leadership drives my entire philosophy. As the current Minority Leader on the Council and member of different boards and commisions in town, I’ve championed transparency, sustainability, and responsible development.

Beyond my public service, my background spanning business and the arts gives me a unique perspective on creative problem-solving. I’m the founder and lead vocalist of “The SKJ Experiment,” and after 15+ years with the Motown-inspired “Soul Sound Revue,” both in work and play, I bring focus, persistence, and excellence to all that I do.

But that’s not all. Those who know me best know my commitments run deep. I’m a proud Lifetime Member of Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate African American fraternity, where I served most recently as Director of Membership for the Eastern region. I’m also an active member of my congregation at Crossroads Community Cathedral.

I earned my B.S. in Marketing from Penn State University, and received my Executive M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut. Ultimately, my family is my rock. My wife Carolyn and our two children, Sofia May and Roman Marcellus inspire me to dream big and work even harder.
